“I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hard work and critical contributions to the Body of Work project. It's been a very long time since I've written poetry, and I have zero experience with having that edited. Your gentle questions and support helped me bring something from my inner world out into the light in a way that it will be received by the reader in the way I intend.
We had a tight timeline on this, and your ability to help us plan a functional workflow and stay responsive was incredibly valuable. Even when I was cross-eyed with having lived, breathed, and bled this project, it was a balm to know I had someone cool and collected in my corner, and that we were going to be able to deliver this thing!
I deeply appreciate you being able to look at this publication from an outside perspective. You helped us create something that feels unified, valuable, laser-focused and without distractions. Thank you for your partnership, friendship, and professionalism. If we do another publication, you're the midwife we'll call!”
“As a still somewhat new tech editor, I was really craving some guidance and feedback from someone with loads of experience. I'd been struggling with feeling burnt out and wondering how best to keep doing the work I like without burning out completely. After meeting with Kristina, I feel much more empowered to set things up the way I want them to be, to create a business that's more in line with my goals and need for diverse types of work.
I realize now that I have enough experience now to stand up for myself and trust myself, and that creating boundaries is not only good, but also imperative. I see this service as helpful for new tech editors, and designers that are struggling, new or established, to become better pattern writers and build a stronger foundation of systems and practices.”
I booked a one-on-one with Kristina because…
"I need to find a way to communicate better with clients in a way that lets me feel more in control of my time and my boundaries."
"I’ve got great vision and I’m very confident in my designs but I need that to translate well into a usable pattern that is clear and easy to read."
"I am happy with my success in such a short time frame but quickly feeling burnt out."
"I think I'm doing a lot of ‘help via email' that never gets billed for. How do I handle that?"
"I’m not sure how I can improve the layout, presentation, style, formatting, or anything else, so it's more appealing and useful to the buyer."
"How can I work in a timeline that works for me?"
"What I really appreciate about Kristina is her clear communication. When I send her a pattern to be edited, I know how long it will take before I get revisions, approximately how much it will cost me and if either of those estimates change along the way, Kristina always lets me know. She explains the reasoning behind her edits and always thoughtfully and thoroughly answers my questions, no matter how stupid I think they might be. She doesn’t enforce her opinion of how a pattern should be, rather she helps me improve the pattern style that I am developing. As a bonus, she’s also really nice. I don’t think I could ask for more."
"I was looking to make some changes in my business and wanted some advice from a tech editor with more experience than me. I recognized that a lot of the things I was doing were not going to lead to a sustainable business long term, so I needed to work some stuff out and set some boundaries. I got everything I wanted out of our conversation.
Kristina was really good at digging into the root of the things I was struggling with and helping me come up with solutions. Thinking through my policies makes me feel more comfortable with making these changes in my business."

“I knew I needed some help because what I was doing didn’t seem to be working. Kind of like I’ve been blindly working toward an unknown goal where I work on a pattern or two and eventually release it and there’s no real CLEAR business/brand vision. I thought “hopefully she’ll be able to look at my designs and my patterns and tell me what’s off.”
I didn’t really know what I needed or specifically what I was trying to gain from our chat, but Kristina was able to zero in on where my patterns were lacking and that was absolutely helpful to me. It got me motivated to take the steps I need to take to become better at doing what I love. I’d set up an annual consultation with her just for that – to reset and realign myself for the sake of consistency. Big picture branding stuff but in written pattern form.”

"I am so grateful to have found a colleague who shares my commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in the knitting world and is willing to take the time to help me realize that commitment in the instructions for my own patterns. She makes me feel less alone in my work, like I have someone in my corner who is cheering me on and sharing in the responsibility of producing a great pattern!
I have been particularly impressed with the care Kristina has taken to learn my unique voice and style. She notes discrepancies between my published patterns and whatever I am currently working on, which lets me be intentional about if and how I change the way I write something. This diligence has helped me build a more consistent and professional library of indie patterns and also helped me learn and grow as a designer. Seriously, Kristina rocks!!! She is worth every penny and then some."

"the first time with a new tech editor always feels a bit like a blind date. i know their name, and what they do for work. they know the same things about me but will they ‘get’ me? by which i mean: is there enough room in their process for my individuality to remain intact when the pattern is done being edited? with Kristina, the answer was immediately ‘yes!’. she is definitely skilled at both the editing and at letting me speak in my own voice. as a bonus, she also made me laugh. doesn’t get much better than that! i will so be calling her again."
