I booked a one-on-one with Kristina because…
"I need to find a way to communicate better with clients in a way that lets me feel more in control of my time and my boundaries."
"I’ve got great vision and I’m very confident in my designs but I need that to translate well into a usable pattern that is clear and easy to read."
"I am happy with my success in such a short time frame but quickly feeling burnt out."
"I think I'm doing a lot of ‘help via email' that never gets billed for. How do I handle that?"
"I’m not sure how I can improve the layout, presentation, style, formatting, or anything else, so it's more appealing and useful to the buyer."
"How can I work in a timeline that works for me?"
“I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hard work and critical contributions to the Body of Work project. It's been a very long time since I've written poetry, and I have zero experience with having that edited. Your gentle questions and support helped me bring something from my inner world out into the light in a way that it will be received by the reader in the way I intend.
We had a tight timeline on this, and your ability to help us plan a functional workflow and stay responsive was incredibly valuable. Even when I was cross-eyed with having lived, breathed, and bled this project, it was a balm to know I had someone cool and collected in my corner, and that we were going to be able to deliver this thing!
I deeply appreciate you being able to look at this publication from an outside perspective. You helped us create something that feels unified, valuable, laser-focused and without distractions. Thank you for your partnership, friendship, and professionalism. If we do another publication, you're the midwife we'll call!”
“As a still somewhat new tech editor, I was really craving some guidance and feedback from someone with loads of experience. I'd been struggling with feeling burnt out and wondering how best to keep doing the work I like without burning out completely. After meeting with Kristina, I feel much more empowered to set things up the way I want them to be, to create a business that's more in line with my goals and need for diverse types of work.
I realize now that I have enough experience now to stand up for myself and trust myself, and that creating boundaries is not only good, but also imperative. I see this service as helpful for new tech editors, and designers that are struggling, new or established, to become better pattern writers and build a stronger foundation of systems and practices.”
"What I really appreciate about Kristina is her clear communication. When I send her a pattern to be edited, I know how long it will take before I get revisions, approximately how much it will cost me and if either of those estimates change along the way, Kristina always lets me know. She explains the reasoning behind her edits and always thoughtfully and thoroughly answers my questions, no matter how stupid I think they might be. She doesn’t enforce her opinion of how a pattern should be, rather she helps me improve the pattern style that I am developing. As a bonus, she’s also really nice. I don’t think I could ask for more."
"the first time with a new tech editor always feels a bit like a blind date. i know their name, and what they do for work. they know the same things about me but will they ‘get’ me? by which i mean: is there enough room in their process for my individuality to remain intact when the pattern is done being edited? with Kristina, the answer was immediately ‘yes!’. she is definitely skilled at both the editing and at letting me speak in my own voice. as a bonus, she also made me laugh. doesn’t get much better than that! i will so be calling her again."
